If you want to do it yourself, download the PAR-Q & YOU questionnaire. This is a physical activity readiness questionnaire that can let you see if there is anything that you need to worry about. Fill it out, and if you answer YES to one or more questions then you need talk to a physician and get cleared before you become active. Make sure you bring the PAR-Q & YOU form with you to the appointment with your physician. You might want to bring more information with you by filling out the PARmed-X form on the same website.
If you are pregnant, it is good to be active before, during, and after pregnancy, but you need to get clearance from your physician too. You can bring the PARmed-X for Pregnancy questionnaire to the appointment with your physician.
